Committee Meeting

CommVault - Stuart Hall

This month we have Stuart Hall coming to talk to us about CommVault.

For those of you who do not know CommVault it has backup, storage and archive (amongst other things) for server environments.

Their software works with a variety of SAN attached storage as well as direct disk where data can be migrated between Tiers 1,2 & 3.

September

Marc Poor from Novell

Just a reminder we have changed our meeting location and day.

We have moved back to West Perth to the Scouting Association building which is located at 581 Murray Street West Perth.

We will still start at the same time of 6:30pm but we are able to run past 8pm now because we can lock up after we leave!

Anyhow this month Marc will come along to discuss all things Novell, where they are heading and what they are doing etc.

So come along and listen and also bring along your questions!

August

Install Fest Sponsored by ACA Microcare

Just to let you know we are changing our meeting location and day.

This month we will be changing to a new venue and date which will be our new "normal" place to meet. Quite a few members have said that although Excom was good it was hard to park in the city so the committee decided that we would try a new venue. We are moving back to West Perth to the Scouting Association building which is located at 581 Murray Street West Perth.

We will still start at the same time of 6:30pm but we are able to run past 8pm now because we can lock up after we leave!

Changing venues also means that we have had to change days as well Wednesdays were getting hard to get at Excom because of training that they were running and the new location did not have anything available so we have changed nights to the first Tuesday of the Month. Hopefully you are able to still attend even though we have changed.

With that in mind our first meeting at the new venue will be an Install Fest with a difference.

We will have several servers available to install software onto, everyone wants to look at SLES, VMware ESX or even Windows 2008 for instance but they may not have time to do it. Geoff Brade will be bringing some hardware along and we will have the software available for people to install and look at. If you have any other ideas and the media to do the install then please feel free to bring it along.

July

AGM

Run for the hills it is the AGM...

Instead of not turning up to this necessary event why not come and get a free 4GB USB just for being a current Financial Member. Current means that you have paid your recent annual renewal.

Being there does not mean that you will be "forced" to nominate yourself just come along and see what happens.

If you do not have it then please contact me either on my phone number below or lholling@microvell.com.au

You can get in from about 6pm and there will be someone downstairs to let you in so you can come upstairs.
Any hassles you can call me on 0418927922.

June

General

This month we will be just having a general chat because unfortunately the presenter had to cancel the last minute.

Hear from Michael for one of the last times before he trips off to the US. Michael will be discussing the benefites of Vista SP1 over Windows XP. Come along and be convinced that Microsoft have got a good solution that is better than Windows XP.

April

Brett Jarvis and Rod Pearson

This month I am proud to say that we have our very own Rod Pearson and Brett Jarvis giving us a presentation on Brainshare (you may remember if you were at the Christmas Function that they were the winners of the Brainshare Entry Passes).

Rod and Brett are going to share with us some of the things that they found out about and discussed while at Brainshare 2008 (hopefully they both wont tell us how awesome all their skiing was only). It will not be death by Powerpoint there may be a couple short video Presentations from Brainshare and they thoughts and feelings about it.
